Lord Nibbler Has Arrived!

Dallas| September 24, 2007 10:24 am

It’s official now…

After being called Mia… and then Sammy, and briefly Monkey, the cat that was formerly known as all those names is now officially known as Nibbler.

As you probably already know, the name Nibbler is a reference to Nibbler from Futurama.  Nibbler is a loveable cat-like creature/character that turns out to be a supreme being from another planet who is involved in saving all of humanity in at least two shows.  If you haven’t watched Futurama, you should.  Go do it now.  And what better time to watch it than now, with new Futurama episodes (For the first time in some 4 or 5 years) are returning to TV in November.  Don’t miss it!

Finally, for those who don’t know, we have also returned to our MMORPG roots and started playing SWG again.  In honor of the amazing show that is Futurama, we’ve named our guild “doop” for Democratic Order Of Planets, with it’s home base being Neutropolis on the planet Talus.  We are trying to play a bit on the comedic/light side, so lots of fun is in store!  If you have no strong opinion of that, and would like to get involved, you already know what to do!

I have a new career!

Dallas| July 7, 2007 7:27 pm

solvera.pngSo, if you haven’t heard yet, I am now officially done working at Accutrak. I was offered a position with Solvera Solutions here in Regina, and started back on June 4th, 2007! Solvera does consulting work for a variety of IT companies. My current position is a three year contract to SaskPower as a SAP/ABAP Developer. This has been an amazing new learning experience for me, and I look forward to my continued employment with Solvera!

I’m still here, I swear!

I know, I know… It’s been AGES since I’ve posted on here! Call me lazy, call me uncaring, call me whatever you like…

I’ve been busy, really! Our vacation went very well, however I didn’t have much time to post during the vacation, because we were almost always busy doing something. I will have more stories about that later!

As for after the vacation, it took us a week just to adjust (wind down?) to being NOT on the go every day… I had bills to catch up on, grass to cut, people to visit…

I’ve also taken up a new hobby… GOLF! I was introduced to golf in Quebec by Chantale, her mother, and her uncle. I like it! I picked up a set, and I’ve been to the range a few times practicing. I hope to get out and play another round VERY soon!

I’ve also got a new friend/pet/PainInTheAss. Ok, it’s a puppy… A Labrador/Shepherd cross that we picked up from the Regina Shelter last Wednesday. She’s only about 12 weeks old, and can be quite a handful. I’m up every morning at 3 AM to let her out to do her “business”. Yeah, did I mention I haven’t been getting much sleep? Really, she’s a great puppy. We finally dubbed her “Sasha”, which I later found out means “Protector of Men”. How fitting… She’s too scared to go down the stairs, and somehow she’s going to protect me(n). We’ll see! Here’s a couple pictures:

Anyways, as I find time over the next several days, I’ll write up some stories about our trip. We had a great time, and I’ll try to highlight some of the cool things that happened!

Performancing Blog Tool for Firefox!

Dallas| July 17, 2006 4:20 pm

The Performancing blog Editor is a drop in editor for Firefox that lets you add entries to your blog from any page, right within Firefox!  Hitting F8 (or clicking the blog icon in the bottom right) causes half the screen (The bottom half) to be filled with a WYSIWYG editor window.  You can choose which blog to publish to on the right, and which category within that blog.  It can post to a variety of different blog packages, including Wordpress.

So far, I’m very impressed with it.  If you are a blogger, and you use Firefox, this is an invaluable tool.  If you aren’t using Firefox… well…  What’s stopping you?  It’s free, and it’s better than Internet Explorer!

The Benchwarmers, go see it, seriously!

Dallas| June 25, 2006 2:12 am

benchwarmers.pngWell, tonight, we decided to go see The Benchwarmers at the Rainbow (Cheap theater, only $4!). This movie was well worth the $4 entrance fee… I would even go so far as to say it’s one of the best movies I’ve seen this year! Rob Schneider, David Spade, and Jon Heder put on a great performance that kept us (Chantale, Colin and Myself) laughing through the entire show. What’s it about? The three of them were losers as kids, so now they are playing baseball (Yeah, a team of three, go figure) to beat all the teams of bully kids that pick on other kids. I know, it sounds stupid, but go see it. You will not stop laughing, I PROMISE!

Futurama is back! SCREW YOU FOX!!!

Dallas| June 23, 2006 11:21 am

leela.jpgThat’s right, as several sources are reporting, Futurama will be coming back with 13 new episodes in 2008! All of the original voice actors have signed new contracts for the new episodes. It’s looking to be a good day! For those of you who are unaware, Futurama originally aired 4 seasons worth of episodes (52 in total) over 5 seasons on Fox. Fox continually screwed them around, moving them to random show times to put on rediculous things (like football games of all things!) After a huge fan following on Adult Swim and amazing sales results on the 4 season DVD box sets, I bet Fox is kicking themselves now! But I don’t feel bad for them at all… Not even a bit!

Phoogle Map Plugin Added!

Dallas| June 21, 2006 12:47 pm

I’ve added a plugin that lets me link Google Maps right into the blog! Kinda neat huh? This map shows where our house is! This will be handy when we are on vacation to show where we are!

Under construction… I’m trying to find one that works in IE properly. You should all use Firefox anyways :P

USERBARS.org - These are kinda handy!

Dallas| June 20, 2006 1:43 pm

This cool site is a great waste of time!  You see these things all the time on forums, in people's signatures.  You can download the images from here, and use them in your forum signature, or just link to them with the code they give you!  Here's a few select ones that I kinda liked:

After you've downloaded the userbars you like, you can click on "Animate Userbar" on the left side, and put in up to 6 images to be animated in a single userbar, such as the one below:

This is a great way to show off what you are all about, and what kinda stuff you like!

Have fun :P

Welcome to our Picture Blog!

“Hey Fred, Those freaks are staring in our window again! Call the cops!”

That about sums it up! Welcome to our photo blog! We set this site up as a window into our private lives… But not TOO private! This site is what’s called a “Photo Blog” (Photog? Phlog? Bloto?)… And it’s pretty much what the name says. The two main parts of this site are the blog (You’re here now) and the Gallery (Check out the main menu for this one). The entire system together lets us merge everything together, so that we can post albums and pictures right into our blog entries! So, as we take pictures of different things in our lives, we can set up galleries, and post blog comments about individual pictures for you to enjoy. We will be posting pictures of our vacations, our new house (and the renovation path it’s undergoing) and maybe some pictures of our friends. (That’s right, nobody is safe! Not even you!) I hope you enjoy our pictures, and feel free to leave comments to let us know what you think!
