A Night of Fun!
Dallas| June 17, 2006 10:16 amSo as usual, we went on a drinking binge last night to celebrate another Friday, and got completely wasted, stumbled in the door at 4 AM, and passed out… Oh wait, wrong night…
First, I present the pile of debris that we dragged from the front yard to the backyard after I lopped the branches off the tree. This pile started at about 6×6x6 feet… I’ve been slowly cutting it down and getting all the big stuff out so we can use it for our firepit. I’m still not sure what I’m going to do with the leftovers… Maybe I’ll just wait until they’re dry and use them for kindling.
Chantale started bagging the tree fallout… That is, all the needles, cones, and whatever else you might find under a huge evergreen tree… Mr. Big wrappers, grocery bags, our neighbour’s cat… So far, she’s up to 11 (ELEVEN!) bags, and she’s about 3/4 done. And these bags are no laughing matter. The heavier ones (Because the contents are a little wet) easily weigh in at over 75 lbs. Try carrying two of those at once!
While Chantale worked on bagging up the fallout, I worked on my own project… an addition to the garage. Here you can see the extension to the bench I added, complete with smooth plywood surface, which brings the total length of my workbench to about 9 feet. It worked out perfectly; The space directly below the new bench surface is a perfect fit for my big garbage bin, and still leaves room for some assorted odds and ends, like my car jack. Next on the list of accomplishments is the big white (empty) pegboard… I used some old 1×2 lumber from the basement for support, and cut the board to 48×38 inches for a perfect fit into the corner. Now I just have to find a few things to hang on it! I think my next project will be to replace some of the drawers on the workbench with more useful shelves, with cupboard doors!
