Yeah, they are the same pictures, but the second bench looks JUST like the first bench, so I didn’t really feel like taking more pictures.

What the hell?

A carpenter carved these two blocks, and then put them together. How is this possible? Click the title and enter your answer! (If I already told you the answer, don’t enter it here! :P )

Behold, I have created a bench!

I hauled out some of the wood from the garage, and built this nice bench for beside the firepit… It took a bit of work, but I got it all together! The bench is incredibly sturdy… although a little high. (Short people may complain, but they can just get a foot-stool!) Now I just need to build one more bench and a corner table to go between them! Thanks to Melissa for the suggestion!

Our Coffee Table is Here!

After waiting six long weeks, our coffee table finally arrived! We really can’t complain, because they told us it could be at least six weeks. I picked it up after work today, and put it together when I got home. The base has a heavy weight in it to counteract the weight of the lifted table top. The table swings smoothly up, and is handy for entertaining stupid cats!

It was difficult to put it together by myself… I put the top on, but then had trouble putting the bottom on. I used a stack of towels to hold one end in place while I bolted the other end on. Success! Now we just need to find a rug for the living room floor!

Four New Entries!

Count them, Four… One, Two, Three… FOUR! Four New entries today! Mwahahahaha! (sigh)

Another 18V B&D Toy for my Collection!

We found this hedger at Home Depot the other day, but they wouldn’t sell it to us, claiming that they were shipped the wrong ones. I guess that’s a loss of a sale for them, because we bought it at Rona for $168 today! This hedger uses the same 18V batteries as my cordless drill AND the grass trimmer, so I now have four 18V batteries and three chargers (if I include the charger that plugs right into the drill). Black and Decker is finally starting to figure things out! It features a long pole, so I can trim up to about 14 feet off the ground with ease. The head (cutting part) swivels, so you can cut flat across the top of the trees… it even swivels backwards so you can trim lower bushes, or trim from above (like on the roof). I put it to work on the hedge/trees surrounding our deck, and the result is the picture on the right…

It did a very good job! Cut through even the thickest of branches with no problem. I used to be sceptical of B&D tools, after my previous 9.6V drill was such a weakling… But their 18V line comes highly recommended from me. It comes with a larger than necessary carrying bag, so I can haul it off to my friends/families places and do their trimming too… (Yay.)

Oh, and before I forget… Hi Melissa! (Just checking to see if you read this, post if you do!)

More tools! Yay!

The hammer was on sale for $17 at Home Depot tonight, and features a rubber grip, all steel construction, and a larger than normal face making it much easier to drive nails. Being a 20oz hammer, it has a much heavier, stronger feel than my old fiberglass hammer, and I’m sure it will last a lot longer! And it’s an Estwing… Can’t argue with the name! The vice grips were on for $24 at Home Depot… They feature a nice rubber grip, and that’s about it. They are a regular set of vice grips other than that… It’s one of the few things I still needed in my tool collection!

The tree cuttings are finally gone!

Well, bagged up anyways:

We ended up bagging at least 30 bags between what we clipped off the tree, and what Chantale raked up from under it (pine needles, garbage, branches, etc)… The pile on the right in the first picture is the stuff we saved for burning in our fire pit.

Finally! Grass!

Grass!

That’s right, it’s GRASS! The previous owners put down sod, but it didn’t come in very good along the north side of this fence. My secret formula solved the problem… Shady area grass seed (it’s special, just for shady areas!), lots of fertilizer, and lots of water… and here we have it! This whole strip looked brown before. I’ll keep watering it, and soon I will have nice lawn here!
